This case study was written by Duncan Stokes at Blisco. Duncan was called out to investigate a leak in a domestic central heating system, suspected to be in the concrete floor of a 'white wool carpet and chandelier' apartment.
After being told by almost everyone, from plumbing companies to pipe manufacturers, that he would have no choice but to dig up the floor until he found the leak, Duncan decided to hire the HeliTest to try to locate the leak.
"Once I received the HeliTest, I hired some balloon gas from a local party shop and set about pressuring the system. An area of about 10 cubic metres increased helium level was quickly identified."
"After lifting the carpet and digging through roughly 200mm of concrete and polystyrene insulation, a pipe joint and a puddle were found. My advice to all 'leak-busters' out there would be this: 'hold the breaker and bring on the HeliTest'."
