SnapShot Infrared Camera, User Tip

A customer who uses his SnapShot for taking images of the human body (medical research) makes use of the 'range' selector to concentrate the image on a small temperature differential. If you select 'range' a chart next to the image will display the highest and lowest temperatures of the image. You can move the top and bottom cursors to display any temperature range you require.

For those customers needing to measure temperature up to 1200C we have introduced the SnapShot HT. Please call for details as our website has not yet been updated.

Glenn Robinson, Mechanical Engineer at Conoco, writes, 'On an offshore platform there are three 'RB211's', and one developed a leak on the air cooling system. Due to the intense heat we were unable to use liquid leak testing so hired the intrinsically safe Ultraprobe 2000. I detected the leak within seconds. This leak was impossible to find using normal methods due to machine metal faces. On repairing the leak another scan was done of the area and I was amazed how sensitive the equipment is as we found another three leaks we were not aware of and consequently all leaks were able to be repaired at the same time. My overall view of the Ultraprobe is that it is advantageous, user friendly, has easy to follow instructions and is definitely worth investing in.' (Subsequently Conoco purchased).

And here's a contribution from Duncan Stokes of Blisco Ltd. Duncan was called to investigate a leak in a domestic central heating system, suspected to be in the concrete floor of a 'white wool carpet and chandelier' apartment! After being told by everyone from plumbing organizations to pipe manufacturers that he would have to 'dig the floors up 'til you find it' Duncan saw the Helitest on the Internet and rented it from us. Duncan continues, 'I hired balloon gas from a local party shop and set about pressurising the system. An area of about 10cm increased helium level was quickly identified and after lifting the carpet and digging through 200mm of concrete and polystyrene insulation a pipe joint and a puddle were found. My advice to all 'leakbusters' would be, 'Hold the breaker and bring on the Helitest'.
