Steam trap webinar video

Our third webinar in four months: it might just be a new world record. I'd really like to thank Tristian for putting together such an in-depth talk, and to everyone who made it along the other week and asked questions.

For those of you who couldn't join us, though - you can watch it on our website. As usual, please let me know if you experience any problems streaming the video, as we can always send you a CD.

Please also remember to send in your feedback, as this will help us to improve the format of these webinars and cover all subjects of interest.

Carbon Reduction Commitment

Next year, the government will be introducing a new scheme - recently renamed the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme - intended to reduce carbon emissions, and it is estimated that up to 5,000 companies will be affected by these new regulations.

The aim of this scheme is a noble one: to reduce the level of carbon emissions currently produced by larger organisations by approximately 1.2m tonnes by 2020, with a 60% total reduction by 2050.

We realise that a number of you will already be working hard to ensure compliance with these legal requirements ahead of the April deadline, and we'd like to help if possible.

Saving energy in the form of reduced compressed air usage, for example, is not only a great way to cut annual operating costs, but it'll also significantly reduce CO2 emissions.

Take a look at our website for more information on this topic, including an on-line presentation and handbook. We also have access to two papers that have been put together by the AEA (government advisers), which are available upon request.

Infrared cameras guide

The choice of infrared cameras today can be somewhat confusing - there are five times as many places to get them from, and picking a camera that is suitable for your applications isn't as easy as it should be.

To help with this, we have a short guide, which looks at some of the more important aspects of an infrared camera, such as image resolution, thermal sensitivity, portability and analytical features.

Although this guide was put together by FLIR (they manufacture our cameras), I do still think that there is a lot of helpful pointers here for first-time buyers, irrespective of which camera you prefer.

Please send me an e-mail if you would like a copy.
