Motor Circuit Analysis Book

Overview Back to the top...

This book, which was written by Dr. Howard W. Penrose, Ph.D. and is called Motor Circuit Analysis: Theory, Application and Energy Analysis, takes an in-depth look at both the basic and advanced operation of motor circuit analysers, the software available for analysis and trending, and the basics of putting together a planned maintenance programme.

Furthermore, the book also details the benefits associated with energy savings and improved production uptime, and includes materials (e.g. case studies) to assist in the cost justification and development of these goals. There is also a section included which covers the various types of electric motor, transformer and related systems that are commonly available.

Other topics discussed in this book include...

  • Advanced induction motor analysis
  • Basic theory on both technology and product
  • DC motor analysis
  • Electric motor failure and reliability
  • Electrical machine insulation systems
  • And transmission and distribution transformer analysis

In addition to this, an optional supplement is also available. This is called Motor Circuit Analysis: Electrical Motor Diagnostics, and has been put together to compliment the above book. This supplement focuses further on Motor Circuit Analysis (MCA) and Electrical Signature Analysis (ESA), and the introduction and rollout of these technologies and the associated test methods.

The three main topics covered in this supplement are...

  • Basic motor maintenance
  • Developing a successful motor diagnostic programme
  • And MCA and ESA data interpretation
