Overview

All-Test Pro

The All-Test's methods are static measurements that are performed on un-energized motors at low AC voltages - ensuring no stress is placed on the windings. In this respect, this equipment is useful for predictive maintenance (spotting faults early), as well as checking new, recently repaired or failed motors. The All-Test is also the only instrument of its type capable of displaying both inductance and impedance readings: inductance, phase angle, impedance and a current/frequency ratio.

Therefore, if you discover a phase unbalance in inductance, you can immediately compare it to impedance. This method can be used to determine if an unbalance is due to winding contamination or overheated windings, and can be evaluated at a glance on the unit or via the unit's respective software. Other inductive-based instruments required a 20-to-30 minute rotor test to determine the cause of a phase unbalance and can still leave the operator unclear as to the fault.

This particular piece of motor testing equipment comes into its own when utilising its ability to collect basic, de-energized electrical information which can be immediately reviewed by the operator. By using simple rules, the user can quickly evaluate the motor's condition, without having to understand the results, or how the motor itself works.

All-Test IV Pro 2000

The All-Test IV Pro 2000 is an instrument capable of testing windings regardless of their physical size, power or voltage rating. It can be safely and effectively used on equipment from fractional through to 10's of thousands of horsepower. And wherever the fault, these tests can be performed at the motor, motor control centre or from a distance of several hundred feet.

Most of these tests take only a minute to perform, and will help to give you a complete picture of a motor's health. On-screen prompts walk you through the automated test routine, and all measurement results are displayed there and then for immediate evaluation. The instrument is also very sensitive, and can detect faults at their earliest stages - before motor failure occurs. For instance, detect "deep" winding faults that even a surge test will miss. Some other faults that we can find with the All-Test IV Pro 2000 include...

  • Turn-to-turn, coil-to-coil and phase-to-phase faults
  • Open phases and cable faults
  • Burned or contaminated windings
  • Poor connections or grounded windings
  • Broken or cracked rotor bars and rotor casting void
  • Rotor eccentricity

Some examples of what the All-Test IV Pro 2000 has been designed to test (at frequencies of 100, 200, 400 and 800 Hz) include...

  • AC/DC electric motors, including synchronous and wound-rotor motors
  • AC/DC traction motors (locomotive and hybrid vehicle motors, for example)
  • Control coils and transformers (as well as transmission and distribution transformers)
  • Machine tool and servo motors
  • AC (alternators) and DC (generators)
  • And virtually any coil-wound device of any size, power or voltage

The All-Test IV Pro 2000 unit is battery powered (comes complete with charger) and weighs less than 2lbs. It is also a safe instrument for operators to use, and on-screen prompts will guide the user through the testing making it easy-to-use. You can store up to 500 test readings on the instrument, and this data can be uploaded (either manually or automatically) into the included software, Trend 2005.

This software will allow you to organise your test data in a manageable fashion, and trend the results over a period of time. You can also let the software diagnose possible problems, schedule maintenance and create custom reports. Additional software is also available, called EMCAT 2005, which is compatible with existing Trend databases, and offers further diagnostic and trending functionality for DC motors and transformers, as well as unique rotor diagnostics and grading systems.
