Unfortunately, there is no way of ever really predicting to what extent a breach of NFPA 70E safety guidelines (first introduced back in 1976, and revised as recently as 2004) can have on your power distribution system. The possibilities range from serious injuries and unprecedented devastation to - in the absolute worst-case scenario - fatalities.
Thankfully, fully tested Thermographic Inspection Windows (or 'sightglasses', as they are sometimes known) are now available to help prevent such incidents and help maintain a safe working environment for you and your colleagues.
Our Hawk range of 'sightglasses' allow infrared energy to pass through them, permitting infrared inspections to be carried out effectively and safely and without the need for qualified personnel to defeat safety systems or open panel covers.
By using these 'sightglasses', the time and cost associated with thermographic inspections can be dramatically reduced, while also improving worker safety in the process. There are two types of Thermographic Inspection Windows which we supply...
- The Crystal range uses an infrared permeable crystal, which makes it ideally suited for installation outdoors and on high voltage power systems
- The Mesh range, which uses an aluminium mesh, has been designed for indoor and low voltage applications
Both of the above models comply with recognised safety standards (please take a look at the PDF brochures below for specific information) to greatly reduce the inherent dangers related to inspections of this nature, and are also available in a variety of sizes and two different configurations.
These 'sightglasses', which are endorsed by Flir Systems, have also been designed to be very easy to both install and use, and allow inspections of critical areas (e.g. breakers, cable terminations, connection bus bars, etc) without interrupting or disturbing ongoing operations and processes.
